Red toadstool
22 October 2026
Video - Level ◆◆◆
It's a tradition for us to paint a mushroom or toadstool together every autumn. This year I've chosen the red-topped fly agaric, because they're such a welcome bright sight on the forest floor and they never fail to make me smile. They're the stuff of fairytales for sure :-)
They're not just one red, though. Before we start to paint we look closely at all the different colours we can see in the cap and in the stem. That close observation is what will make your mushroom look natural and realistic.
Happy painting!
